The Academy is speaking with a stronger voice in Washington since launching our own political action committee (PAC). FamMedPAC gives family physicians a more powerful political presence in our nation’s capital, and helps move the AAFP to a new level in our advocacy endeavors. The mission of FamMedPAC is to help elect candidates to the U.S. Congress who support AAFP’s legislative goals and objectives.

What is FamMedPAC?

FamMedPAC is the federal political action committee of the American Academy of Family Physicians. A federal PAC is a special organization set up to collect contributions from a large number of people, then pool those funds and make contributions to federal election campaigns and political organizations.

Where does my donation go?

FamMedPAC will make direct contributions to candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Contribution decisions will be made in a nonpartisan way based on a candidate's positions, policies and voting records as they relate to family physicians and our patients.

Who can donate money to FamMedPAC?

By law, FamMedPAC may only accept donations from AAFP members, employees, and family members.

I already pay my AAFP dues. Isn't that enough?

Election laws prohibit the use of membership dues for donations to political candidates. Funds to be used for donations to candidates must be raised separately from your membership dues. Voluntary FamMedPAC donations are what will enhance your clout in federal elections and with elected members of Congress.
